About Body Skin Insider

Body Skin Insider is a guide to the skin below your chin: crepey skin, dark spots and discoloration, dry and flaky legs, body acne, and the lotions and acids people use on all of it.

Why body skin?

Skin care advice tends to stop at the jawline. The skin on your arms, legs, underarms and neck changes too, often in ways a face routine doesn’t cover. We give it the attention faces usually get: what’s behind a change, which ingredients have research on their side, what they cost and when a spot needs a professional look.

Who’s behind it?

The owner of Body Skin Insider, and the publisher of every guide on it, is a company that also makes body care products. Our disclosure page covers what the ownership means for what you read here.

Whose name is on the guides?

Rachel Moreno’s. Her byline runs on every guide here, from crepey arms to dry, scaly shins.

How is a guide put together?

It starts with the questions people search for most about body skin. The answer comes from the American Academy of Dermatology, the FDA and peer-reviewed studies; each key claim links to its source, and every source is listed at the end. If the research is thin, the guide says so, and it flags the signs that mean it’s time to see a dermatologist. The full rulebook is on our standards page.

Do you recommend products?

Rarely, and never as a ranked shopping list. Our guides focus on ingredients and formats, because that’s what lets you compare a cheap lotion with an expensive one. A brand name appears only when it helps, for example when readers search for a product by name.

What if you get something wrong?

We fix it, and if the fix changes a guide’s advice, a dated note at the end of the guide says so.

One thing no website can do is look at your skin. For a spot or a rash you’re unsure about, see a board-certified dermatologist.
